Dr. Zhanna Fridel attended New York University College of Arts and Sciences from 1992 to 1996, when she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience. She participated in research at that time and published a paper titled, “Functional Inactivation of the Lateral and Basal Nuclei of the Amygdala by Muscimol Infusion,” showing prevention of fear conditioning to certain contextual stimuli (Muller J., Corodimas K.P., Fridel Z., and Le Doux J.E, Behavioral Neuroscience, 111:683-691, 1997).
Zhanna then attended New York University School of Medicine from 1996 to 2000, graduating in 2000 with her Medical Doctor degree. She also became certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support at that time. Dr. Fridel did her Residency Training at Lenox Hill Hospital between 2000 and 2004. In her final year as Chief Resident she published “Are Elevated Fetal Nucleated Red Blood Cell Counts an Indirect Reflection of Enhanced Erythropoietin Activity?” (Ferber, Fridel, Weissman-Brenner, Minior and Divon, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, May 2004). Additionally, she won First Prize for her other research work at the Resident’s Research Day in June of that year (2004). Dr. Fridel is certified by The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Fridel is fluent in English, Russian and proficient in Spanish. Her interests are in delivering babies, Urogynecology, and Laparoscopic Surgery. She enjoys working out with weights and doing Taebo to maintain physical fitness, as well as spending quality time with her son. |
