CORD BLOOD BANKING

Now used in medical treatments for decades, stem cells have been proven to treat children and adults and are routinely used in fighting more than 75 serious diseases. In addition, researchers are still learning about exciting new possibilities where newborn stem cells can revolutionize other areas of medicine.

The ability of stem cells to regenerate into other types of cells in the body has proven effective for treating and curing some of the most common diseases and devastating injuries. Emerging stem cell therapies include:

• Heart Disease
• Muscular Dystrophy
• Stroke/Brain Injury
• Parkinson’s
• ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease)
• Diabetes
• Multiple Sclerosis
• Alzheimer’s
• Spinal Cord Injuries
• Lupus

Stem cells have been called the “pills of tomorrow.”

Newborn stem cells have many advantages. They are easy to obtain and can be immediately available if they are needed for treatment. Early treatment of many illnesses can minimize disease progression. Because the cells found in cord blood are “naïve,” or undeveloped, the cells do not have to “match” the patient as closely as bone marrow.

VAGINAL SURGERY

Sometimes, these procedures are referred to as “Vaginal Plastic Surgery,” “Vaginal Tightening,” “Vaginoplasty,” or “Vaginal Rejuvenation” because restoration of normal anatomy and function, like that of a “younger” vagina, is the goal. Other times, when reduction and/or recontouring of the labia are the goal, such as for cosmetic enhancement, the procedure is called a “Labioplasty.”

We invite you to inquire about how these procedures may help you with Dr. Fridel.

LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY

To diagnose certain problems, a doctor needs to look directly into the abdomen and at the reproductive organs. This can be done with laparoscopy.

Laparoscopy is usually done on an outpatient, ambulatory basis, that is, you don't have to stay in the hospital overnight.

There are several reasons why laparoscopy may be recommended. Certain problems are best diagnosed by direct visualization, and laparoscopy can accomplish this to help confirm the diagnosis. Laparoscopy may be used if you have problems with infertility or if you want to be sterilized. It can also used to evaluate causes of pelvic pain, to check for ectopic pregnancy, and to treat cysts and masses. Conditions that cause pain, like endometriosis, can be confirmed, and if present, can be treated through the laparoscope.

BREAST DISEASES

As the primary physicians women see on an annual basis, we consider it our responsibility as gynecologists to embrace breast cancer screening and early detection of breast problems. Aware of the importance of screening, we are prepared to help our patients in the management of these issues. In this regard, we wish to be compassionate yet technically proficient clinicians.

MENOPAUSAL MANAGEMENT
